Tá súil agam go bhfuil gach duine slán agus sábhálta.
Ní bheidh Gaelscoil na Giúise ar oscailt amárach Máirt 17 Deireadh Fómhair de bharr treorach ón Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna maidir le Storm Ophelia.
Gaelscoil na Giúise will be closed tomorrow Tuesday 17th October as directed by the Department of Education and Skills.
Tabhairigí aire daoibh féin agus athosclóidh an scoil Dé Céadaoin 18ú mura ndeireann an Roinn a mhalairt linn.
We will reopen on Wednesday October 18th unless otherwise directed by the Department. Take care!
Thíos ná ráiteas ón Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna.
Below is the official statement from the Department of Education and Skills.
Dept of Education statement:
Following careful consideration by the National Emergency Coordination Group, the Department of Education and Skills, has decided that all schools will remain closed tomorrow. This decision was primarily taken in the interests of child safety and on the basis of information available in what is a developing situation. While it is recognised that some schools may not be as badly impacted as others, the information available at this time indicates that over 350,000 businesses and homes are already without power, and severe winds continue to cause damage across the country as the storm progresses. Many regional and local roads are closed due to fallen trees.
It is also the case that school authorities will in very many cases not have had an opportunity to check their buildings and confirm they are safe, have power and water, and that routes to the school are safely open.
It is recognised that the decision to close schools will have a major impact on families and on the workforce. However, this decision has been taken in the interests of safety for children and to provide clarity for everyone concerned.

Dea scéal faighte againn go mbeimid istigh i scoil nua an Scoil Oideachas le Chéile Dé Luain 23 Deireadh Fómhair. Seolfar ríomhphost an tseachtain roimh ré le eolas faoi modhanna nua, seomraí ranga srl. Beidh na múinteoirí istigh an deireadh seachtaine sin ag réiteach agus ag ullmhú na seomraí ranga ionas go mbeidh siad chomh ullamh do na leanaí is gur féidir.
We are delighted to inform you that as of Monday 23rd October we will be in the new Educate Together Building. A detailed email outlining new procedures, classrooms etc will be sent the week beforehand. We are looking forward to a smooth transition, with the teachers giving up their weekend to ensure classrooms are as ready as they can be for the children coming in.
Ní bheidh an foirgneamh nua réidh go dtí an 11ú Meán Fómhair agus mar sin beidh an scoil ag oscailt anseo ar an 4ú Meán Fómhair ag 8:55.

Beidh ar na páistí lón agus deoch a thabhairt leo ar an lá. Beidh cead acu ‘treat’ a thabhairt chomh maith. Beidh orthu a éide scoile a chaitheamh ach is féidir bríste gairid a chaitheamh más mian leo (ag brath ar an aimsir). Tá súil againn le bheith ar ais don gnáth am dul abhaile ach tá seans ann go mbeidh 10 nóiméad nó mar sin de thréimhse feithimh agaibh do na ranganna naíonáin.
The children will need to bring a packed lunch and drink on the day. They may bring a treat with them also. Children must wear their school uniform but can wear shorts if they wish (weather permitting). We hope to be back at school for both pick up times however there is a chance that the infants may return about 10 minutes or so after 1.30.
